Guidelines for organizing a multilingual conference (in german)

Before the conference begins, interpreters need suficient time and materials to prepare themselves.

Necessary materials include:

  • Notes from the speakers
  • scripts
  • presentations
  • Präsentationen,
  • films and clips
  • previous translations from the company
  • list of speakers/participants
  • resources or links to stay consistent with the prefered terminology.
All materials will be handled confidentially and will not be passed on.

Please note:

  • The booths should be positioned to allow the interpreters a clear view of the stage, projection screen, flipcharts etc.
  • It is important to insure that all presentors speak directly into the microphone, all names and numbers are clearly pronounced and abreviations explained.
  • Please provide a copy of all texts to be read aloud including passages and quotations. It is best if all presentors speak in their mother language.
  • Communication is most effective when written translations are made by the same interpretors to insure consistent terminology.
  • Recordings from audio, video or internet use are possible only with prior payment and permission.
